C Spire Wireless Academic All-Star Presented To Brighton Student

Brighton, Tenn. (December 10, 2012) – Aevar Jonsson, a senior at Brighton High School, has been named a C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars Award winner.

Jonsson is one of six students in the Greater Memphis area who received this week’s award for Drama & Speech. C Spire Wireless will recognize more than 160 students during the 2012-2013 school year. Jonsson and other weekly winners will be honored at a luncheon at the Hilton Memphis, Thursday, May 2, 2013.

Jonsson has a passion for performing. He holds a 4.0 unweighted grade point average, scored 33 on the ACT and uses his acting, leadership and organizational skills in the production of the class’ weekly television magazine show, “Bird’s Eye View.” Jonsson has received the Cardinal Academic Excellence award for four consecutive years. He also has been selected for the All Northwest Junior and Senior Honor Choirs.

A talented actor, Jonsson has performed at the Ruffin Theater in “Rebel Without a Cause,” “Romeo and Juliet,” “A Christmas Story,” “A Christmas Carol,” “The Bible in 30 Minutes or Less,” and “Night of the Living Dead.” He also is a top student in his broadcasting class. He brings to life the morning announcements with his enthusiastic delivery.

The C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars program was conceived to identify and recognize high school students for excellence in academics, school leadership and community service. Now in its 7th year, the C Spire Academic All-Stars Awards are presented weekly for 28 weeks during the academic year from nominations submitted by school administrators.

Judges include educators from Rhodes College, The University of Memphis, LeMoyne-Owen College and Christian Brothers University. Each Sunday during the year, C Spire Academic All-Stars are announced in The Commercial Appeal.
